1. About this policy
This Cookie Policy explains how Hey Homes Group Ltd (trading as HEY, company number 14649881, registered office Sunrise House, Hulley Road, Macclesfield, England, SK10 2LP) uses cookies and similar technologies on www.heyhomes.co.uk. It should be read with our Privacy Notice (www.heyhomes.co.uk/privacy). We follow the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR) and UK GDPR.
2. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your computer, phone or tablet. They let the website recognise your device and remember information. ‘Similar technologies’ include local storage, pixels and scripts that read or store information on your device; this policy applies to them in the same way.
- First-party cookies are set by our website. Third-party cookies are set by another organisation, such as Google.
- Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies stay until they expire or you delete them.
3. Our approach: no non-essential cookies without your consent
- When you first visit, a cookie banner asks for your choice. Accept and Reject are equally easy to choose, and nothing is pre-ticked.
- We only set strictly necessary cookies until you choose. Analytics cookies are only set if you click Accept (or switch them on in Cookie settings).
- If you reject, or ignore the banner, no analytics cookies are set and Google Analytics does not store cookies on your device. We use Google Consent Mode so that Google tags respect your choice.
- You can change your mind at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer of every page. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it.
- We ask you again after 12 months, or sooner if the cookies we use change significantly.
- We do not currently use advertising, marketing or social media tracking cookies. If we start to, we will update this policy and ask for your consent first.
4. The cookies we use
Strictly necessary cookies (always on)
These are needed for our website to work and to keep it secure, for example to remember your cookie choice, protect our forms from spam and abuse, and keep your booking or sign-up form working as you move between pages. PECR allows these without consent. You can block them in your browser, but parts of the site (such as booking forms) may not work.
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cookie consent cookie (for example hey_cookie_consent) | HEY (first party) | Remembers whether you accepted or rejected analytics cookies, so we don’t ask on every page | 12 months |
| Session and security cookies | HEY / our website host (first party) | Keep forms working between pages, protect against cross-site request forgery and spam, balance traffic | End of session |
Analytics (performance) cookies (only with your consent)
With your consent, we use Google Analytics 4, provided by Google Ireland Limited and Google LLC, to count visits and see how people use our website (for example which pages are popular and whether bookings are completed), so we can improve it. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store full IP addresses. Data may be processed by Google in the United States under the UK-US data bridge (see our Privacy Notice, section 7).
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Google Analytics (Google) | Distinguishes one visitor from another | 2 years |
| _ga_<container ID> | Google Analytics (Google) | Keeps track of your session on our site | 2 years |
More information: Google’s privacy policy (policies.google.com/privacy) and how Google uses information from sites that use its services (policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites). You can also install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on (tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout).
Third-party services we link to
When you set up a HomeSaver recurring card payment or pay an invoice online through our Commusoft Invoice Portal, card payments are processed through secure pages and payment elements hosted by Stripe (and on-site card reader payments are processed by SumUp). Those pages are run by Stripe and SumUp, which set their own strictly necessary cookies and have their own cookie and privacy notices.
5. How to manage cookies
- On our website: use the Cookie settings link in the footer to accept or reject analytics cookies at any time.
- In your browser: most browsers let you see, block and delete cookies. Find out how at ico.org.uk/for-the-public/online/cookies or in your browser’s help pages (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge). If you block all cookies, some parts of our website may not work.
- On your phone: you can limit ad tracking in your device settings.
6. Changes to this policy
We will update this policy if we change the cookies we use, and ask for your consent again where needed. The date below shows when it was last updated.
7. Contact us
